Tea in Japan is a world of its own with a great deal of tradition. Some teas are however picked by machine and others, such as Bancha, have characteristically straight leaves. Bancha is a course tea whilst others, such as Sencha, are more refined and have a more delicate taste. The best teas are picked by hand, steamed and then dried over a charcoal fire.
