The Lakyrsiew garden is situated in idyllic tea growing terrain in Meghalaya Province, between Assam and Darjeeling. This perfect and most picturesque area of mountains and lakes was discovered by the East India Company nearly two centuries ago but there was no labour to cultivate it. Today this wholly organic garden, on rich virgin soil is surrounded by jungle from which a natural spring flows. A predominantly Bannockburn clonal variety is grown, producing a tea made with meticulous care but in limited quantity. This smooth well rounded autumn picking is characterised by an initial sweetness followed by notes of chocolate. It has a long finish without astringency. Brew from three to four minutes. To be savoured.

an amazing discovery an amazing tea from a region I'd never even heard of. Combines what's best in a top Darjeeling with what's so good in an excellent Assam - very fragrant and lovely concentrated flavours, and no bitterness. Definitely for a special occasion, this one. -
